UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) says its defeat in last week’s polls is not a reflection of what will happen in 2021 when the country holds general elections because people still love the country’s opposition party. UPND secretary-general Stephen Katuka said what happened last week where his party only won a single seat, while 13 were grabbed by the ruling Patriotic Front, will not repeat itself in 2021 when people go to vote in the general election. “People are eagerly waiting for 2021 so that they can vote properly. Voters simply boycotted the Lusaka mayoral by-election. If you critically look at it [the Lusaka mayoral by-election], what difference would it have made to vote for a UPND candidate when the entire council and central government is PF?” Mr Katuka wondere

NWWSC GOES ELECTRONIC IN BILL DISTRIBUTION North Western Water And Sewerage Company has announced that effective August 2018, the company will start distributing water bills electronically through SMSs and emails. NWWSC Public Relations officer Barbra Siyanyabo said customers are requested to submit their phone numbers or email addresses at the district offices across the province. She further said that the transition from manual to electronic bill distribution is being done to ensure effective bill delivery, suit the current business trends and to serve customers better by addressing complaints of not receiving physical bills. Ms Siyanyabo has also advised customers who have not yet submitted their details by 31st July 2018 to the company to do so before risking to stop receiving their monthly bills and having their service withdrawn in line with the company's policy.

The Drug Enforcement Commission in Lusaka has arrested six (6) persons for trafficking in over four (4) Kgs of ephedrine. Milton Fredrick Kapanda, 31, of House No. 3116 Mushili, in Ndola district has been arrested and jointly charged with five others for trafficking in 4.136 Kgs of ephedrine after a successful operation in Lusaka. A follow up operation was later conducted in Ndola leading to the interception of the drugs and additional suspects. The suspects are identified as Davy Milambo Himakampa, 46, of Kansenshi, Chris Kakoma, 42, of Mushili and Bruno Simpemba, 43, of old Mushili in Ndola district while others include Maselo Victoria, 35, of Emmasdale area and Whiteson Mubambe, 63, of industrial area in Lusaka district. All suspects are currently in Police custody and will appear in court soon. This is according to the press statement released to the media by Kamufisa Manchishi Deputy Public Relations Officer Drug En forcement Commission.
