UNITED
Party for National Development (UPND) says its defeat in last week’s polls is
not a reflection of what will happen in 2021 when the country holds general
elections because people still love the country’s opposition party.

Stephen Katuka said what happened last week where his party only won a single
seat, while 13 were grabbed by the ruling Patriotic Front, will not repeat
itself in 2021 when people go to vote in the general election.
“People are eagerly waiting for 2021 so that they can vote
properly. Voters simply boycotted the Lusaka mayoral by-election. If you
critically look at it [the Lusaka mayoral by-election], what difference would
it have made to vote for a UPND candidate when the entire council and central
government is PF?” Mr Katuka wondere
