Centre for trade policy and development under the economic governance and tax program has embarked on a resource utilization and mineral revenue sharing mechanism project aimed at tracking and monitoring mineral revenue in the areas where mining activities are taking place.
In an interview with  CTPD information and communications officer Isaiah Mbewe said Zambia is blessed with a lot of minerals but there is no prudent management of the resources being collected from the minerals hence the need to train the community.
Mr Mbewe said there is need for people to track and monitor how resources are being used by the local authorities that is why they have come up with a community mineral revenue tracking toolkit to help the community to easily track if the resources are being used for the intended purposes.
He said monitoring of how the resources are being used will bring about accountability and transparency in local authorities stating that so far the people who have been trained are eager to go out and find out how the resources are being utilized to the benefit of the community.
Mr Mbewe said the results which will be collected from the finding from community leaders will be presented at this years first ever provincial mining Indaba in June.
