1. North Western Province challenged to participate in the implementation of the national strategy on financial education.
Government
has called on all financial players in north western province to take up the
challenge of participating in the implementation of the national strategy on financial
education.
Speaking during the official
launch of the phase two of the national strategy on financial education in
north western province at provincial administration in the Boma conference hall
today, North Western Province permanent secretary willies Mangimela, in a
speech read on his behalf by his deputy Douglas Ngimbu, Mr. Mangimela said the launch
of the national strategy reaffirms governments commitment towards enhancing
financial inclusions agenda in Zambia without leaving out anyone behind.
Mr Mangimela said the launch
of the national strategy on
financial education is a milestone as it will help to strengthen the financial
inclusions in the country.
He also added that he is
confident that through the strategy the country will realize a financially
educated and included population by the year 2030.
The permanent secretary has
also commended its cooperating
partners, among them, being the World Bank through financial inclusion support
frame work and other players that have been instrumental in developing and
advancing financial education inclusion.
And Mr Mangimela says the
implementation of the national strategy on financial education will assist to
create a more competitive and sustainable approach in financial education.
The permanent secretary said
through the strategy, government with support
from all financial players will
be able to expose young people to the significance of saving at an early stage.
And speaking at the same
event, ministry of finance assistant director Dingiswayo Banda said the
national strategy on financial education builds on the first national strategy.
Mr Banda said the aim of the
phase two of the national strategy on financial education is to have a
financially educated Zambian population in 2030 which in support of making
Zambia a middle income prosperous country by 2030.
Meanwhile, north western
province provincial education officer Dr Mebelo Nyambe said if the financial
education starts with young people, it will go a long way.
Dr Nyambe also said if well
implemented the national strategy on financial education will consequently lead
the country to the vision 2030
