The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested an 18 year-old boy of Lusaka for trafficking in heroin.
The 18 year-old boy of Mandevu Township in Lusaka has been arrested for trafficking in 25 sachets of heroin.
Also arrested and jointly charged is Steven Ngoma, 25, Patrick Miti, 27, and John Sinkala, 35, all of Matero Township in Lusaka for trafficking in 13 sachets of cocaine. The trio was arrested at Lusaka’s Buseko Market.
Meanwhile, the Commission has in other parts of the country arrested eight (08) small scale farmers for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in cannabis.
Those arrested include Kollar Simbila, 40, of Hanenga village in Chikankata District for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 1.2 tonnes and for trafficking in 37.8kg of loose cannabis. And the Commission has in the same village seized 1.9 tonnes of fresh cannabis plants belonging to Choongo Chikoko, 46, who is currently on the run. However, a man hunt has since been launched on the suspect.
Others arrested include Veny Moonga, 30, of Lubonga village in Chibombo District Grasper Himiyimbulwa, 40, also of Lubonga village, Green Musonda, 33, of Mukasano village in Serenje District, Mulunda Chanda, 40, of Kabulo village in Nchelenge District, Mwewa Chilanshi, 40, of Jaineke village in Mansa District, Francis Masonde, 40, of Kahomba area in Mufumbwe District, Davius Muleya, 31, of Kasono area in Kasempa District and Leonard Ngula Sichimwa, 24, of MCLOP Compound in Sesheke District for unlawful cultivation and trafficking in over 1.8 tonnes of cannabis.
All suspects will appear in court soon.
