Government has with immediate effect shut down Church of Christ following the death of eight people in at Lusaka’s Olympic Youth Development Center-OYDC today.
National Religious Affairs Rev. GODFRIDAH SIMAILI told the media this afternoon after a meeting with Church of Christ Director LESED MAPHETO, Lusaka Police commissioner NELSON PHIRI and other government officials.
REV SIMAILI said government was saddened by what she termed as untimely loss of people which would have been avoided.
She said the incident was unacceptable as it portrayed a picture that people were living in poverty in the nation.
REV SIMAILI said government through the ministry of home affairs have instituted investigations gather more details as the event of food distribution is allegedly to have been taken place without permission from relevant authorities. 
And Matero Member of Parliament LLODY KAZIYA said he was initially invited to officiate at the event but declined for not having any details concerning.
  
MEANWHILE, Church of Christ LESED MAPHETO told the media that he could not make any comment but that he would issue a statement after gathering facts.

Subjects of Chief Matebo of the Kaonde speaking people of Kalumbila district have accused two traditional leaders for causing confusion in the matter of who should be the chief between Collece Mulemena and Evans Nyeleti. Speaking during a meeting called by the sitting Chief  of  the  Matebo chiefdom, the seventh Evans Nyeleti today at the palace, the subjects alleged that the said  two chiefs  are contributing to the continued  wrangles over the chieftainship  of the Matebo royal establishment. The subjects said the two chiefs are supporting Collece Mulemena who lost the case in the high Court through a judgment which was passed. Nyambi Harrison, who spoke on behalf of the other subjects, said he wonders why the two chiefs have concentrated on Chief Matebo's Chiefdom when they have their own Chiefdoms.
