AN AWARD IS AN AWARD WHETHER GIVEN PUBLICLY Or NOT, HONOUR YOUR WORKERS.
..........…...........…....…....…...

May day is here. This is the day when employers recognise efforts made by  their  employees in their line of duty.

Employees get their awards during the labour day commemmoration publicly , speeches by labour movements are given and government highlights on the existing  local and international policies.

However, This years labour day is different as governments, not only the republic of Zambia but world over could not allow for celebrations as it continues to fight the spread of the deadly Corona virus.

In the quest to fight the Corona virus, public gatherings of any nature have  been discouraged.

We understand the impact of the virus on human kind and trust that the preventive measures spelt out by government  through the Ministry of Health should be adhered to for us to be safe.

However, in as much as we observe the health guidelines, labour day should not be ignored by employers.
We encourage employers to award deserving employees at place of work.
An ward is an award weather given publicly or not.
As North West Press Club , We expect media owners to honour their employees for the commitment in ensuring that the general public is fed with information.

This is the time, we expect those who have been selfless in reporting on Covid 19 daily just to ensure our communities are well informed to be recognized and appreaciated.

Happy labour day to journalists, you may not be considered to be a front line worker but we believe you are because you are always there as things unford.

Keep on being relevant to society.

Happy Labour Day!!

Anthony Tapa
North West Press Club President.
