And Government says it has placed Public Private Partnership as an important entity in improving the livelihood of it's people.
Speaking in a speech read on his behalf by North Western Province Permanent Secretary Willies Mangimela ,during the handover of the Covid 19 medical supplies donated by Barrick Lumwana Mine, North Western Province Provincial Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu said one such area of cooperation is the provision of health care services.
Mr Mubukwanu said the outbreak of Covid 19 in Zambia has posed a direct threat to having a health people with the potential of negatively affecting productivity.
He said government has envisioned a multisectoral Public-Private Partnership response to be key to winning the war against the deadly disease.
The Provincial Minister has also revealed that , the province is screening over 3000 individuals under port health per day at Kangwena screening point and so far 225 persons for Covid 19 out of which 9 came positive.
And Honourable Mubukwanu said the donation of assorted medical supplies by Barrick Lumwana Mine in the fight against Covid 19 in the province and the country at large is an example of Public-Private Partnership is meant to be.
He said the items recieved will go a long way in the provision of health care to the people in the wake of the Corona virus.
"I wish to assure that we shall account for every item. To further help with transparency , the office of the Covid 19 fight whether it be monetary form" he said.
"I wish to inform the Nation at large that the donation to support the country in combating and containing the Covid 19 pandemic by your great Mine is highly appreciated and will be treasured for all generations to come" Mr Mubukwanu added.
The Provincial Minister has further thanked the mine for rehabilitating Nkulumazhiba Covid 19 referral centre which as also been connected to power and water supply.
And Mr Mubukwanu has urged the public to continue abiding by the Corona virus prevention guidelines that will help to slow down the pandemic so as to keep the nation productive.
And speaking at the same event, Barrick Lumwana Mine General Manager Paul Gillot said the donation of the medical supplies worth over US$500,000 was designed to support the country in combating and containing the Covid 19 pandemic.
"As a committed partner to Zambia we made a provision,including medical equipment and supplies to the value of US$340,000 at the national level , US$100,000 for the North Western province and US$90,000 for Kalumbila District" He said.
Mr Gillot said the company engaged the zambia's national Covid 19 taskforce to convert it's support into immediate action in the procurement of the items donated.
He said his company was committed to ensure delivery of the pledge which was made to government towards the fight against Covid 19 in April this year.
Mr Gillot has further reiterated Barrick Lumwana's commitment to complete the Nkulumazhiba rural Health centre .
"This facility will be used as a Covid 19 isolation center for the Kalumbila District and is close to completion and soon to be handed over to goverment" He said.
