This week, on Celebrity corner, we are super excited to introduce to Geco Bouro Mpela,Rhumba guru. His real names are Geco Bouro Mpela ,popularly know as Bouro. He is not new in Music Industry,rhumba to be precise.He started his music career with Koffi Olominde, The king of Rhumba. Bouro was born in Kinshasha, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to a musical family as his grandparents, parents and siblings were either with careers in the industry or talented and passionate about the trade. He was educated locally (DRC) and graduated with a University degree. Bouro began his singing as a member of his church choir and when his brother Alain joined the band Wenge Musica, Bouro would rehearse with him at home. FARMERS URGED TO BE ALERT IN THE 2018/2019 FARMING SEASON AS HASH CONDITIONS APPROACHES . By :Anthony Tapa 05/10/2018 Solwezi. Zambia is likely to receive normal to below normal rainfall in the 2018/2019 rain season, the metreorologic department in North Western province has reviewed. Provincial Metreorologic Officer Wallace Kasongo said the rainfall season is likely to be established by late November across the country. "the season will be marked by an early start of the rains over the North-Estern,extreme in western and southern parts of the country" Mr Kasongo said. "the season will also be characterised by intervals of dry spells" He added. However,Mr Kasongo said there is a high chance that most of the rainfall will be received in December, January and February across the country. Democratic Party president Harry Kalaba says he will only exculpate himself if the Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mila assures him that the fuel price will be reduced and the lives of Zambian people improved. UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) says its defeat in last week’s polls is not a reflection of what will happen in 2021 when the country holds general elections because people still love the country’s opposition party. UPND secretary-general Stephen Katuka said what happened last week where his party only won a single seat, while 13 were grabbed by the ruling Patriotic Front, will not repeat itself in 2021 when people go to vote in the general election. “People are eagerly waiting for 2021 so that they can vote properly. Voters simply boycotted the Lusaka mayoral by-election. NWWSC GOES ELECTRONIC IN BILL DISTRIBUTION North Western Water And Sewerage Company has announced that effective August 2018, the company will start distributing water bills electronically through SMSs and emails. NWWSC Public Relations officer Barbra Siyanyabo said customers are requested to submit their phone numbers or email addresses at the district offices across the province. She further said that the transition from manual to electronic bill distribution is being done to ensure effective bill delivery, suit the current business trends and to serve customers better by addressing complaints of not receiving physical bills. Ms Siyanyabo has also advised customers who have not yet submitted their details by 31st July 2018 to the company to do so before risking to stop receiving their monthly bills and having their service withdrawn in line with the company's policy.

The Drug Enforcement Commission in Lusaka has arrested six (6) persons for trafficking in over four (4) Kgs of ephedrine. Milton Fredrick Kapanda, 31, of House No. 3116 Mushili, in Ndola district has been arrested and jointly charged with five others for trafficking in 4.136 Kgs of ephedrine after a successful operation in Lusaka. A follow up operation was later conducted in Ndola leading to the interception of the drugs and additional suspects. The suspects are identified as Davy Milambo Himakampa, 46, of Kansenshi, Chris Kakoma, 42, of Mushili and Bruno Simpemba, 43, of old Mushili in Ndola district while others include Maselo Victoria, 35, of Emmasdale area and Whiteson Mubambe, 63, of industrial area in Lusaka district. All suspects are currently in Police custody and will appear in court soon. This is according to the press statement released to the media by Kamufisa Manchishi Deputy Public Relations Officer Drug En forcement Commission.

The Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company has attributed the erratic water supply in the capital to rehabilitation works at Kafue water treatment plant but promised that normal supply would be restored tonight. Public Relations Manager PATSON PHIRI says his company was aware of the water shortage which has hit Lusaka for nearly five days. He said the company was replacing old pipes to improve supply safe water to townships. MR PHIRI said normal water supply was expected to resume this evening. A critical water supply has hit Lusaka’s Woodlands and Chilenje townships for almost five days posing a health hazard only days after the government declared an end to the cholera epidemic country wide.

A Policeman has shot dead his colleague at a funeral house in Kabwe’s Kasanda Township. The victim has been identified as Sergeant SAMUEL TEMBO aged 47 of Kasanda Police Camp. Police PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE ESTHER KATONGO says in a statement that Sergeant TEMBO was allegedly shot dead by his close friend SIMON MBULO of Makululu Compound using a revolver. She says the incident occurred in the early hours of today at about 01.40 hours at a funeral house in Kasanda Police Camp. Mz KATONGO says the victim and other friends at the funeral house had gone to the suspect’s vehicle where he was found sleeping and they tried to wake him up by knocking on the door. She says it was at this point that Mbulo fired two shots at the victim through the window. Tembo was rushed to Kabwe General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mz Katongo says the suspect has been arrested and the pistol recovered. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The little-known opposition United for Better Zambia-UBZ is driving the point home that the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ should reduce election nomination fees which it says were too high for candidates. The Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ has set 26th July, this year, as the date on which Mayoral elections would be held in Lusaka. ECZ spokesperson Margaret Chimanse announced in Lusaka today that the commission would also hold Council Chairpersons’ elections in Chasefu, Chipangali, Kasenengwa, Lumezi, Lusangazi and Chifunabuli districts. Zambian Young Leader from Chibolya gets to meet Queen Elizabeth in London. Artistic Director and Co-founder of Circus Zambia, Gift Chansa, grew up in Chibolya, well known as the most notorious slum in Lusaka. While young, Gift experienced some of the hardships of growing up in Chibolya. But mostly he was affected by the level of prejudice he encountered when sharing where his home is. People would be scared of him and worse. This motivated him to bring change to Chibolya and to the way the compound is perceived. Together with Amos Malokwa, Charlotte Groen and Benard Kaumba he found Circus Zambia in 2016. Circus Zambia is Zambia’s first and only social circus that works with young people from vulnerable backgrounds. ZMA seizes 300 underfilled containers of cooking Lusaka, February 19, 2018/ -- The Zambia Metrology Agency has seized three hundred (300) containers of cooking oil from a named manufacturing company in Lusaka. This is when the Agency's inspectors carried out a random compliance inspection at the company’s manufacturing plant and found all packaged cooking oil products non-compliant with regards to the net content declared. The inspected products of cooking oil included 750milliters, 2 Liters, 2.5 Liters, 5 Liters, 10 Liters and 20 Liters. Fifty products (50) from each denomination were sampled and a total of 300 products were seized for non-compliance. The company was also found using four (04) unverified automatic fillers for packaging. The seized underfilled cooking oil containers have since been disposed of through the Courts. The Drug Enforcement Commission in Lusaka has arrested a Bolivian national for trafficking in 2.1 Kg of cocaine which was wrapped in condoms concealed in fifty five (55) bottles of roll-on. The suspect, identified as Veizaga Arias Steven, 27, was intercepted at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from Rio de Janeiro via Angola aboard an Angolan Airlines flight. And, the Commission has also arrested four people for various drug related offences in an operation conducted in Lusaka’s Chibolya Township. Those arrested include Joseph Chingangu, 52, of Chilenje Township for trafficking in cannabis and Brian Kaputula, 29, a Carpenter of Chibolya Township for trafficking in seven sachets of cocaine and heroin.
